‘the sanctuary’ 2022

‘The Sanctuary’ is a mixed-media, sensory installation I curated for Wake The Tiger —the UK’s largest immersive art experience and the world’s first Amazement Park®, a hyper-reality, self-guided journey through kaleidoscopic imaginative environments.

Conceived as a Japanese Zen Garden situated within a balanced mind, the installation translates psychological theory into spatial form. Four pagodas, each corresponding to one of the core Archetypes used in shadow-work models of the psyche, provide enclosed environments for reflective engagement. A central, continuously burning fire represents the integrated inner self, while bridges and stone ponds structure the visitor’s movement through the space. The ceiling, designed to evoke the interior architecture of the brain, situates the entire installation within a metaphorical mental landscape.

Curating this work required synthesising research in psychology, symbolism, and immersive environment design, demonstrating the analytical and interpretive skills central to the research assistant role.
